Students ending passes#1447

A

Teachers also shared that on more than one occasion a student would start a pass and then end it themselves after they’d left the room and not return. Several teachers in our building have a computer set up for kiosk mode to start a pass, but students would log into their phones and end their passes. Is it possible to set up something so that passes must be started and ended on the same device?

I think it might be better to have it so that it can only be ended on devices that are logged in with certain permissions/accesses. For example, students can start, or accept a pass on their device, but they need to get to a room with a device logged in with a teacher/kiosk login, and there they can close the pass.

This way, if a student starts a pass in Ms. Smith’s classroom, goes to the bathroom, but ends up having to go to the nurse because they threw up, they could go to the nurse, and the nurse could close the initial pass and recreate a pass for the student to be listed from the same origin teacher/class, but to the nurse’s office. That way, the teacher knows that the student is now somewhere else, but is in a legitimate spot instead of wandering the halls. When the student is done with the nurse, the nurse would then initiate a pass from the nurse to the new destination (back to the origin class, or to the next class on the student’s schedule).
