Pass Minute Limit#1298

J

We would love it if there was an option to limit the amount of TIME students are out instead of the number of passes they use. For example, right now we have all students on a 3 pass limit (for bathroom, fountain, locker, etc). We would like to switch that to a 15 minute time limit. If they ask to get a drink and are gone for 2 minutes that’s not as bad a bathroom pass for 5-6 minutes.

We would love to see the same. We have a weekly limit of passes for our students and would love to incentivize returning to class in a timely manner with a minutes limit!

The idea of implementing time limits for bathroom use is a positive step towards maintaining schedules for all students. However, it’s important to consider the specific needs of children with disabilities, who may face unique challenges in this area. Many of these children require additional time—often around eight minutes—just to navigate to the restroom safely and address their personal needs.

To create a more supportive environment for all students, we can advocate for reasonable accommodations that allow children with disabilities the same opportunities as their peers. This approach can help eliminate the anxiety associated with feeling rushed.

One constructive solution could be to maintain the 3-minute timer for students without disabilities, while adjusting the timer for those who need more time. By being flexible and accommodating, we can ensure that every child feels valued and supported, ultimately fostering a more inclusive and respectful environment for everyone.

Thank you for taking your time to read this.

This is just a suggestion.
